Witsel drew a good save out of Lloris with 10 minutes remaining as Belgium lay siege to the France goal, but it was a night where the final pass was always just wayward and on Sunday the French will once again march on Moscow.

Mick Jagger was one of the many famous faces in the stands at St. Petersburg Stadium.

Henry, France's all-time top scorer, and second-most-capped player after Lilian Thuram, is trying to help Martinez mastermind a win over his own nation.

France 1, Belgium 0.

Confidence is sky-high after they beat Brazil in the quarterfinals but they will come up against formidable opponents in France as they try to reach their first World Cup final.

Deschamps now has the chance to become the third person to win the World Cup as a player and a coach, after Germany great Franz Beckenbauer and Brazil's Mario Zagallo.

"We showed character and mentality, it was very hard for us tonight". The goalkeeper made some high profile blunders for Tottenham last season, as well as some for France in the friendly game prior to the competition.

"We've been great so far in the World Cup", Debregeas said.

Belgium can call upon the likes of Romelu Lukaku, Eden Hazard and Kevin De Bruyne, while Antoine Griezmann and Kylian Mbappe have shone for France in Russian Federation.

Everything was slayed to perfection by Roberto Martinez's men in the previous match, finally meeting expectations set by Federation Internationale de Football Association and the judging eyes of the world. They lost their first three, but since getting over the hump for the first time in 1998 - a tournament they went on to win on home soil - they have not been beaten in the final four.

Belgium had won all five matches in Russian Federation coming into their meeting with the French, and had scored 14 goals in the process. Celtic's Dedryck Boyata may feature as a right-back.

In the 19th minute, Hazard's shot from the left of the box was headed away by Raphael Varane, who had his back to the goal. The French will be hopeful of winning their second World Cup.

France keeper Hugo Lloris, a Golden Glove candidate in Russian Federation, had nothing but positive things to say about the Belgium squad.

France sat back and looked to use the pace Mbappe on the counter attack but were nearly caught out as Hazard forced a wonderful tackle from Varane and Lloris had to beat away a vicious shot on the followup from Witsel. I thought it was incredible how he did it, how he worked it out and how the players did it. "But we're not thinking about it too much, we're going to be focused on the pitch and our game".

"We could easily have frozen".
