Thibaut Courtois puts Real Madrid on red alert

Chelsea FC are ready to make a £62m bid to sign Alisson from AS Roma this summer, according to reports in the Italian media.

He showed his quality again on Sunday night at the World Cup, despite Denmark's eventual penalty shoot-out defeat to Croatia.

Real Madrid are strongly linked with the Chelsea goalkeeper and the family factor may play a big role in determining his future. Loris Karius seemed to have become the solution to Jurgen Klopp's goalkeeping woes, producing stellar outings in the second half of the Premier League season. This could be the start of a long merry-go-round of goalkeepers in this summer's transfer window.

While no direct or significant approach has been made for Courtois or Alisson by any side, Sky's Kaveh Solhekol says that Schmeichel has been targeted as the back-up option should either lose their first choice 'keepers.

Courtois spent three seasons on loan at Atletico Madrid between 2011 and 2014 before returning to Chelsea to secure the number-one spot at Stamford Bridge.

But, while they are ready to meet Roma's asking price, it is likely that negotiations with Alisson will have to wait till the end of Brazil's World Cup campaign.

Eden Hazard looks set to leave the club in search of Champions League football, with Real Madrid his most likely destination.

As such they are already thinking about who they might move for and Denmark goalkeeper Schmeichel, who is on the books at Leicester, has fallen into their field of vision. Today, Chelsea are closing-in on Alisson....
